Account book containing information on I'on's diverse financial investments and copies of correspondence from executor of I'on's estate, Charles [Tidyman] Lowndes, documenting expenses during antebellum, Civil War, and Reconstruction eras. Correspondents include I'on's nephew Wade Hampton III (1818-1902), who, in a letter of 8 June 1867, expressed regret "that I have not been able to make provision for the debt due... but I have had absolutely no means at my disposal. My crop failed last year, not even repaying the advances I had obtained to cultivate it...."
